Deer Hunting
Experience some of East Texas' finest hunting at Deadwood Land and Cattle Company. Family owned since 1832, this ranch now offers big buck hunting on over 2,000 acres of majestic pines and rolling hills. A 200lb trophy buck is not uncommon in Panola County. Dense areas provide great opportunities for bow hunters while comfortable blinds and rigorously maintained feeders allow excellent rifle/black powder hunts.
Quality Wildlife Management practices assure healthy and abundant whitetail deer, turkey, duck, dove and trophy wild feral hogs. Ranch staff monitor game activity and will recommend the ideal location for your desired hunt. Before and after your hunt, relax in the lodge enjoying hearty home cooked meals and maid service included in your hunting fee. Enjoy getting away from it all but "have it all" with satellite TV, a library of hunting videos, poker/domino table, antique wood-burning fireplace and all the comforts of home.
Turkey Hunting
Panola County began allowing spring turkey hunts in 2000. That season, the second largest turkey in the state of Texas was harvested on our grounds weighing in at 23 1/2 lbs, with a 9 2/3 " beard, and 2" spurs. The terrain makes hunting these smart birds very challenging. However, the payoff can be a trophy caliber bird. Turkeys can be hunted with a bow, crossbow, shotgun or black powder.
Duck Hunting
Hunt a variety of waterfowl species from either of our two managed green tree reservoirs. These were installed in 2001 under sponsorship from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Ducks Unlimited, Inc., North American Waterfowl Management Plan, US Fish and Wildlife Service and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Use any of our four blinds or get your waders out and take advantage of the hardwoods.
A large covered kennel is available at the lodge for your sporting dog(s).
Hog Hunting
Large numbers of feral hogs migrate through the ranch. These hogs weigh up to 425lbs and can be hunted day or night. Guided hunts with dogs must be reserved in advance. Hunting these hogs at night with specially trained dogs is the most excited way to bag a 300-pounder.
Varmint/Small Game Hunting
These east Texas woods are teaming with small game such as squirrel and cottontail rabbit. Coyote and bobcat are also plentiful.
Fishing
Guests can catch Florida and native largemouth bass, black crappie, channel catfish and bream in our managed lake. Our lakes are spring fed year round and full of healthy fish. All guests are welcome to reserve our 2-man bass boats equipped with trolling motor and life jackets. Your chance to pull in a trophy bass is outstanding given the knowledge of our staff putting you in the hot spots for the season.
